Aspen’s product ranges cover several therapeutic categories. These include Pain, cardiovascular system, central nervous system, ENT (ear, nose and throat), endocrine system, gastro-intestinal tract, musculo-skeletal agents, NSAIDS, respiratory system and urinary tract system.

Aspen Pharmacare in South Africa comprises two business units. These are the Commercial division and the Manufacturing facilities.

COMMERCIAL DIVISION

Aspen’s South African Commercial business provides a diverse basket of high quality, affordable medicines and products which are supplied to community pharmacies, retail pharmacy chains, corporate pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, prescribing specialists, dispensing general practitioners, managed healthcare funders and retail stores across the private and public sectors.

Aspen’s range of branded, generic, over the counter (OTC) and consumer health products offers the convenience of a “one-stop-shop” service to its broad base of customers.

Prescription and OTC brands

These Prescription brands incorporate branded and generic products.

Aspen’s leading prescription brands include Aspen Trazadone, Aspelone, Avamys, Augmentin, Eltroxin, Foxair, Navalpro CR, Pharmapress, Puricos, Panamor, Stilpane, Wellbutrin and Zolnoxs with leading OTC brands comprising Aspen Colchicine, Flusin, Hyospasmol, Ibumol, Mybulen, and Somnil.

Consumer brands

The Consumer brands includes an extensive range of products categorised in the self-medication sector of the market.

With over a 160-year old heritage, Lennon Dutch Medicines range is a strong brand which has more than 35 line items and remains a proven favourite for the treatment of minor ailments.
Leading brands in the Consumer division include Borstol, Lennon Dutch Medicines, Eye Gene, Movicol, Ulsanic and Woodwards.

MANUFACTURING FACILITIES

Aspen operates 23 manufacturing facilities across 15 sites, and we hold international manufacturing approvals from some of the most stringent global regulatory agencies including, among others, the United States Food and Drug Administration, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration and the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines.

Aspen’s South Africa manufacturing sites are based in Port Elizabeth and East London. These sites produce high volume tablets, capsules, liquids, semi-solids, eye drops, liquid vials, hormonal ampoules and vials, lyophilised vials.
